Picking up the pieces

Today is my 2nd day off in a row.  I didn't really get a lot accomplished yesterday.
The grandkids spent the night before so they were hanging around for quite a while.  I love the way they help me with small projects around the house.  Crosley (age 6) helped me change the sheets on my bed.  The weather has really warmed up so I had to get the fleece sheets off.  Monday I took the boys to the movies to see X Men.  It was a real treat.  That was the reason why they spent the night.

I have been working at getting my fabrics ready for Quilt Walk in June. Quilt Walk is a 4 day quilting retreat in Panguitch.  I signed up for classes from Jenny Doan...Broken Dishes...and a free motion class and a class from Sariah Mortensen called Sparkling Cider.  So I will come home with 2 quilt tops to finish and add to my stack.   I have made project bags to carry my different project fabrics in. It is a pattern I bought at Quilt Guild meeting a few months ago.  It is a pattern by Pie Plate Patterns.  They only take 2 fat quarters, a zipper and a piece of vinyl.

I made this strawberry one first .

Then I made this purple one.

These bags go together so quick and easy.

I also have been sewing a block for Quilt Walk.  They have a block exchange and raffle quilt bundles off.  The block is called  "Shooting Star"

It was a simple block and I did mine in red, white and blue.  They required us to use an off white for the main fabric. I like the block and may do it colors to go with the blocks I am doing for Quilt Guild.  They are the same size block.

I also made a journal cover to take with me.  It fits a composition book that can be purchased for a dollar.

Here is the front:

and the inside:
Here it is without the book in it.  I love the colors and print.
Other than that, I have been painting my porch...I don't like the color once I got it on but I guess it will do for now...Here is a picture of it finished.

I got my 2 tomato plants in pots earlier this week also.

I hope everyone had a safe Memorial Day Weekend.  Even though I worked Saturday and Monday, I still had a good weekend.

Signing off for now.

Friday Again!!

It seems like Friday is the day I end up posting for the week.  So here goes!!  I have been so busy with other things that I haven't very much to report about quilting.

Tuesday was both grandson's ball games.  Crosley is 6 and is a great hitter and quick to retrieve the ball and get it to the right person.  I think he won his game.  Joe is 11 and is learning to pitch.  Being a left hander is an advantage to pitching.  He's very good and I watched his game.  (the games were at the exact same time at opposite ends of town.)  His team won also.

I have still been nursing my pulled muscle  so by evening I can't get around very well.  I did do some weed whacking with my new electric weed eater.  Joe and his friend Lucas helped some on Wednesday.  I also got the paint for my porch.  I started painting it on Thursday, with the help of Hailey and Crosley, but today it was raining so that put a stop to progress on painting.

Also on Thursday Crosley and Joe both had ball games again. So I first went to Crosley's game and then went to see Joe's double header.  I missed most of the first game but was able to watch the second game entirely.

Also on Thursday I was able to put the quilt sandwich together for the Be My Neighbor House Quilt.  I will try getting to quilt it this next week. And I made another project bag.  I will take pictures of it and post next week

Well, I will post again next week if I can.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and I am feeling very nostalgic about it.  My Mom has been gone for 14 years and I still miss her.  She would love the Internet the way it is now.
I don't know what we are doing, if anything.  The kids have not let me know.

Back to quilting!!

The only thing I have been working on is the Quilt Guild BOM.  I did finish the block with all the HST's.

I liked the idea of the pinwheels.

Then I worked on the Dutchman's Puzzle.

I love this block ..It was fun to make.  I hope I can get back to quilting in the next few days.  I hurt my leg a week ago and finally went to the Dr Friday.  He did some x-rays and at least I don't have a stress fracture ( which is what I was beginning to think it was)  I can't believe how much energy it takes just to get from one place to another.  Just putting my clean laundry away yesterday exhausted me.  I am hoping to get back to quilting tomorrow or Monday or Tuesday.  I will have Tuesday off so maybe then...

A Lot has happened since my last post.

I finished the Kitty in the Window quilt.  Here is a picture of it.
There is actually four rows of kitties, but had to lay it over the porch rail.  I really need to take a better picture so that everything shows up.  I will try to do that soon.

I also worked on my BOM for quilt guild this next week.  I have made my Dresden Plate Block.
Although I have not attached it to the backing fabric.  I want to do a blanket stitch around it and my machine that does the best blanket stitch is not working properly right now.  So I am waiting till I can get it fixed.

My next BOM was the converted pin wheel.  It was fun and easier than I thought it would be.

I have also been working on this next block but haven't decided on the layout yet.  Hope to finish it later today.
It has 16 HST blocks and I wanted to do it so different from the instructions.  Maybe I can make up my mind and will post pictures of the final layout.
